Hello SJS Families! My name is Susan McDonough and here is a little information about me…I am a product of Catholic Schools. I attended F.A.W. from 1st through 8th grade, and then graduated from St. Mary’s Ryken in 1990. After high school, I enrolled at Washington College in Chestertown, MD where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities and a minor in Spanish. I earned my Masters in Leadership in Teaching from the College of Notre Dame in Baltimore, MD in May of 2004.
In 1996, I began my teaching career at Mother Catherine Spalding School in Helen, MD. In 2001, I transitioned to St. John’s School to teach 4th grade. After 5 years, I moved into the position of 6th grade teacher at SJS. I spent 3 years teaching 6th grade. Then, in 2009, I moved, once again at SJS to teach 8th grade.
In May of 2012, I was appointed interim principal of St. John’s School. In May of 2013, I was appointed the permanent position of Principal of St. John’s School. I live in St. Mary’s County with my husband, Matthew, and my two children, Callie and William.
