March 2-6

ReadingWe will be introducing Unit 7: The City Mouse and the Country Mouse.  We will focus on identifying long and short.  We will begin counting out how many syllables are in a word.  We will continue focusing on print and book awareness.  We will be distinguishing between word lengths and capital letters at the beginning of sentences. We will continue to recognize rhyming words.

Math- We will be practicing number recognition and one to one correspondence with using dice. We will be practicing writing numbers 0-15.  We will be practicing counting to twenty using manipulatives. We will continue to learn the parts of the calendar (days of the week, months of the year, yesterday, today, and tomorrow). We will be practicing drawing our shapes (circle, square, rectangle, triangle, diamond, and oval).  

Religion–   We will discussing Lesson 12: Miracles of Jesus. We will continue to practice our prayers the Sign of the Cross, Glory Be, Hail Mary, The Our Father, and the Guardian Angel Prayer.

Science/Social Studies– We will be discussing the weather and how do we dress for it.

*Please be aware of the changing weather and that your child is dressed appropriately.  We have outdoor recess if it is 32 degrees and above!

*Please remember library books are due on Wednesdays.  You may have your child turn in their library book earlier if you would like.

*Please label all your child’s belongings.

*I know rest time can be challenging for the students who do not take naps any more. Students may have one stuffed animal that does not make noise and/or a book for rest time. 

*Please check your child’s folder daily.
