May 13-May 17

Good Afternoon!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  We have 17 more days of school for Pre-K. ? On Wednesday, our room moms have graciously offered to get Papa John’s pizza for Pre-K since we will not be going to the Blue Crabs Educational Day.  If you do not want your child having pizza for lunch, please pack them a lunch. There will be no lunch to purchase from the cafeteria that day.

*Please send all donations for Trike-A-Thon by tomorrow.  Mrs. Ptack is trying to make sure the kids who earned prizes will get them before the last day of school.

*Mrs. Kane and I will be starting Reading and Math assessments this week.

Reading We will be reviewing all the uppercase and lowercase letters. We will be practicing writing our letters and name. We will clap out words to see how many syllables certain words have. We will continue to work with rhyming words.

Math- We will be doing estimation this week!! We will continue practicing adding and subtracting using manipulatives.  We will continue practice writing our numbers. We will continue to learn the concept of more than and less than, and equal.  We will continue to learn the parts of the calendar (days of the week, months of the year, yesterday, today, and tomorrow).  We will be using manipulatives to count objects to 20.   We will continue with drawing shapes and recognizing how many sides each shape has.

Religion– May is the month of Mary.  We will be talking about Mary and learning about the rosary.  We will continue to practice the Hail Mary, Our Father, the Sign of the Cross, the Glory Be, Guardian Angel Prayer, and genuflecting.

Science- Our caterpillars have attached to the top of container and have started to turn into chrysalides. We will be learning about their life cycle over the next couple of weeks as we observe their transformation into butterflies!!
