November 16

Good Luck to our Basketball Players and Cheerleaders this Weekend!

6th and 7th grades: You do not have homework over the weekend since we really didn’t have class today with Mass and the pep rally.  We will work on a Thanksgiving project next week.

8th Grade: We are starting “That’s Life – Personal Finance Project”. I am really excited about this project.  For homework you are to go to this web page for the Department of Labor.  https://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oessrcst.htm Then select MD. Each of the jobs on your list has an Occupational Employment Statistics (OES) code. Look up the jobs by their designated code.  Click on your job.  Look at the description of the job and see if it is something you are interested in.  Remember you are also going to have to write a resume for you job.  You might not have the qualifications for that job but you have things you are good at doing that you can list on your resume. Think about different jobs that use your skills and training. You are not going to make up your resume. It will be based on what skills and training you have.  List 5 jobs in order of your preference on the job selection sheet and be sure to put the OES code. If someone else has the same job as you as their number one choice, it will depend on your resumes on who will be given that job. Yes, you need to choose 5 jobs.  Monday in class you will work on your resumes and job applications. Please look and think carefully…you all have amazing gifts and talents from God, put them to good use. 🙂

8th Parents:  I will be sending out an email with all the detail and information about this unit.  I decided to do this in response to the students and what they said they wanted.  This is a very realistic project and I hope the students really enjoy it. Thank you in advance for your support and assistance during this project.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Please send me an email with any questions or concerns.
