8th Grade Homeroom

Important Information:

Cap and Gown information went home this week, please make sure to read and send back no later than January 31st.  Thanks!

Friday, January 18th is an early dismissal day

Tech Expo will be January 17th from 5:30-8 pm at the James Forrest Technology Center.

SMCPS will begin taking applications for the following Public School Academies on March 6th.  The deadline to have these applications submitted is April 19th.

The Confirmation Retreat will be March 25th and 26th.  More details to come.

8th Grade’s last day of school will be Thursday, May 30th.  Graduation will be on Monday, June 3rd.

I have created a Facebook group for our class.  It is a closed group where I will post pictures of the fun things we are doing at school.  If you would like to join the group, please look for Mrs. Engel’s 8th Grade.  This is just for parents/guardians.

6th Grade:

Reading: 

-What new facts do we learn about Sal’s father in chapters 17 and 18? Now that we know more about him, how would you describe him as a character?

-In at least one paragraph, answer this question. Why does Sugar say that she feels “rotten” in comparison to Sal’s father?

-Why do you think Sal’s mother felt so inferior to Sal’s father? Answer in at least one paragraph.

-Read through Chapter 30

Reading: Read pages 61 THROUGH 80 in Zlata’s Diary.  There will be a quiz on this reading.  Recovery for today’s quiz is due on Friday.  If it is not turned in tomorrow, it will not be accepted.
