Thursday 11/8

A reminder there is no school tomorrow!! Enjoy the long weekend! Then on Monday, parents, please join us for our Honors Assembly at 9:30 followed by our Veterans Day Tribute at 10am. Thank you to our Veterans and Congratulations to our honor roll students and our Extraordinary Eagles!

7th Grade: HW: Lesson 34 practice set. This week in 7th grade was a busy one even though it was a short week! We tackled subtracting integers, proportions and probability!! The students did a great job and we even created a probability experiment using heads or tails, tossing a coin twice. Next week we will have a test on either Wednesday or Thursday so look for a study guide to come home before then. 🙂 Up next is….Areas of polygons, and all about circles.

6th grade: HW: Study guide 6A due Tuesday **skip #4 or try it as a bonus** this is a coordinate plane questions which we are going over on Tuesday. I wanted the students to have more time to finish the study guide so I switched out the lessons. This week 6th grade mastered finding the average, rounding and estimating, and adding fractions with unlike denominators. We also used Khan Academy this week!! This is an excellent resource for the students to use if they need a little extra explanation of a topic. They did a great job working together in math meeting and board presentations continue to improve. There is still a little bit of extra chatter in this class but it is getting better. Since we do not have class on Monday with the Veterans Day and Honors Assembly, the study guide is not due until Tuesday. Test next week will be on Thursday. Up next is…all about the coordinate plane, decimals and the metric system.

8th grade: HW is 3.7 workbook and there is a quiz on Monday. We will review before the quiz in class on Monday. This week we covered graphing using slope-intercept form, direct variation; including identifying a direct variation, graphing, and real world application, and graphing linear functions; identifying parent functions and comparing a function to the function of f(x) = x. The students are doing a great job and keeping up with all the practice. Practice, practice, practice is the best form of studying these concepts. We also used Khan Academy this week!! This is an excellent resource for the students to use if they need a little extra explanation of a topic. Please know if the students need extra help, I am available after school on Mondays. 🙂 There will be a test next week on Thursday!

Please email me if you have any questions or concerns..

Have a great weekend!
